Dialogue on partnerships as a key tool to address the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals and advance with the 2030 Agenda

    Alliances are essential to advance in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and, thus, it is included in SDG 17 that promotes the Global Alliance for Sustainable Development complemented by alliances between multiple stakeholders that mobilize and exchange knowledge, expertise, technology and resources. in order to support the achievement of the SDGs (Target 17.16).

    In the words of former Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, “To successfully implement the 2030 Agenda we need strong, inclusive and integrated partnerships at all levels,” and today, more than ever, strong cooperation is necessary to ensure the response and recovery after COVID-19.

    In this panorama, marked by common challenges, establishing alliances between cities and between their local actors, which reinforce the capacity for collective action, is key to advancing in the localization processes of the 2030 Agenda.

    Co-organized by the city of Madrid and the UNDP, in this session we want to share the experience of working in partnership between the cities of Madrid, Montevideo, La Paz and Praia and strengthen the understanding of the importance of collaboration to advance in the ODS.
